Secretary Report read by Latricia:

Pauline made motion to approve as read; Latricia seconded.

Old Business:

  1. By-Laws were voted on - passes as written.
  2. Everyone who hasn’t done so already should send a short bio and picture for WIN Region 4 website to Jan.  Bio should include site and position, email and telephone.
  3. Executive Director Report on VP meeting re: WIN support
12 plants represented at the meeting.
Most VPs are not taking any action. There are plans for opening new chapters at different plants which will be discussed at the August meeting.
  4. Mentoring and Exchange Committee Report
Region IV Conference is July 17th --19th in Washington, before US WIN Conference.  Taking tour of Dominion exec. offices and spend the day; tour N. Anna.  We’re attempting to get Bill George, author of Authentic Leadership and True North as the Keynote speaker.  There will be CNO presentations; legislation tips; women mentoring.
  5. Communication Website-Newsletter—Vivian was not in attendance.  She let Jan know that she couldn’t call in.
  6. Sale of Items on Website (Volunteer)
Jan contacted several sellers who do logos on items.  She asked if others would check around.  Latrícia volunteered to check in Columbia.  Seller would use Pay Pal, & sell at cost to avoid problems with the NEI.
    Professional Development and Education
Pauline will send info on WIN membership, developing new chapters. Master of Nuclear Engineering online degree through the Missouri University is being held up by lack of software for lab classes.
  7. Membership for new WIN Chapters—Palo Verde, Northwest, Idaho Labs and University Chapters.

New Business:

  1. Women for Nuclear - new Board position Position would be for women who want to support nuclear but who are not in nuclear industry.  Suited to the general public.  Discussion; vote was unanimous to adding a “Women for Nuclear” position to Board.
  2. Legislation-How to handle in each State
It is very important to be a voice to legislators for change.  Each of us should take any opportunity with legislation to be a pro-nuclear voice. We do not need to get Board approval to support pro nuclear lesgilation in our respective states and represent WIN FOR Region IV.  Passed unanimously.
Legislative Talk Sheets need to be on our website
            Number of women in plants
            Waste issues
            Different stats
We can get info thru NEI for federal information, but not state stats.
  3. WIN Legislative Conference - Request Board attendance; March 18-19, 2009 ($269-hotel)  No registration fee.
We should check with our management to see if board members can go.
  4. Other
Exchange program goal for 2009 for WIN personnel to exchange between sites. See if QA department would be interested in a WIN member exchange for audits at another facility.  We would place their audit schedules on our website to promote the exchange.
We will have Chapter phone calls to general membership to inform them of Board activities.  Pauline said she sends minutes to members and discusses them at local meetings.  It’s suggested that a teleconference call be made about a week after each Board meeting.  Meeting minutes should be sent as draft until approval at next meeting and placed on the website

Tailed Business:

There are conflicts with upcoming Lead Group meeting dates/times which will be addressed later.
